"The Greatness and Mercy of God"
When Jesus had risen from the dead, he encountered his disciples on the road to Emmaus and said something crazy. "“O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself." Believing this from Jesus is the cornerstone for one of our foundational beliefs: preaching Jesus from all of Scripture. In today's message we begin a short overview of seeing Jesus from the Prophets, and we begin with the prophet Isaiah. Called the fifth gospel by some, Isaiah's message of judgement and mercy is astounding and filled with the good news of Jesus. In today's message, Andrew introduces us to this book and starts to show the meta-narrative of scripture from its pages, Creation, Fall, Redemption, Restoration. If you are feeling downtrodden, broken, hopeless, frustrated, empty, this book is for you.
